Duval County Court is also known as The Fourth Judicial Court. The Court System of Florida is divided into five districts which are made up of 20 circuits that branch of to 67 counties. The family law division has jurisdiction over dissolution of marriage, custody and visitation, child support, name change, paternity, adoption, delayed birth certificates and domestic violence matters.

The Family Court Services division forms part of the Fourth Judicial Court.The mission of the Family Court Services (FCS) is to provide self-represented (pro se) litigants with an accessible and coordinated means of resolving their family law cases in a fair and efficient manner and to provide assistance to the families and children involved in the court system by offering appropriate court-related services and linkages to community service providers. The Divorce Division helps married couples who wish to divorce by providing them with the documents that are needed for a dissolution of marriage. Married couples who wish to make a petition must have lived in the State of Florida for at least six months. The Drug Court Division helps in reducing drug related cases that are clogging court dockets.
